Nala

@naladaddyy We are all given a choice. I choose Jesus. #christian #jesus #babtized ♬ Oceans (Where Feet May Fail) – Hillsong UNITED & TAYA

This young lady accepted Christ and was recently baptised. Praise God! We should rejoice with the angles who lift up praise for each new believer — shouldn’t we?

Unfortunately, many Christians refuse to accept her conversion as “true”. They say things like, “I’ll believe it when I see the fruit!” Or my favorite, “God may forgive her, but it doesn’t mean I have to!” These people have never met Nala. She never wronged them personally, so why are they so adamant she doesn’t deserve our encouragement? What evil did this young woman perpetrate? Did she do something so vile it gives Christians license to judge?

No, she was a porn star with an online account. However, many feel this gives them the right to  talk about her “body count” and call her  “disgusting”. Some, have gone so far as to dig up pornographic images of this young lady and post them on their X platform.

Is this how Christ would treat her? Would these people throw stones if Jesus said, “Let you without sin cast the first stone?” Do they believe their sin isn’t as bad as Nala’s?

I would argue any Christian who searches for pornographic images and  posts them online to shame a new sister, needs to spend time evaluating their own heart rather than focus on what Nala did when she was lost.

Romans 14: 10-13 NASB says, “But as for you, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or you as well, why do you regard your brother or sister with contempt? For we will all appear before the judgment seat of God. For it is written: ‘As I live, says the Lord, to Me every knee will bow, And every tongue will give praise to God.’ So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God. Therefore let’s not judge one another anymore, but rather determine this: not to put an obstacle or a stumbling block in a brother’s or sister’s way.

The way many are treating our new sister, they aren’t just putting obstacles in her way, they are launching them at her with a catapult. Isn’t it time to walk away from sending the enemies flaming arrows into new believers?

“‭‭Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.” 1 John 3:18 Isn’t praying for, rejoicing with, and encouraging a new believer loving in deed and in truth?

“For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it.” James 2:10 ESV This verse tells me that I’m as guilty of the same sins as Nala, because if we fail in one point of law, we’re guilty of them all. If we’re as guilty as she is, what right do we have to judge her sin?

Perhaps we would be better off praying for her, and asking for forgiveness for our own sins. I know I have enough of my own without worrying about whether a new believer is sincere and if her sins are really forgiven.

Dear brothers and sisters, please let us reach out to new believers with love and kindness. It’s not our place to judge they are sincere or not. A new believer’s sincerity is between them and God. Our place is to pray for, rejoice with, encourage, and teach new believers! Let us never become a stumbling block for another believer.

To Nala, I say welcome to the family of Christ, my sister. Isn’t wonderful to be washed white as snow by the Savior who loves you? I will pray for you and encourage you along with a great many of your new brothers and sister.
